Practical information

School venue

The registration, lectures and exercises will be taking place in the room D-205 in the Kjølv Egelands building. The first day of the school, signs with directions will be placed in the building.

The social events will be organized at the department of Mathematics and Physics at the 5th floor of the Kjølv Egelands building.

Accommodation

Many of the school participants will be accomodated in the Ydalir campus hotel. It's about 10-minute walk to the school venue.

Meals

The student's accommodation in Ydalir does not include breakfast, this can be bought separately. Small kitchen is present in the shared studios.

The lunches (and other meals) can be purchased in Kafe Optimisten in the Kjølv Egelands building or at other canteens at the campus (some of them have longer opening hours).

There are supermarkets Kiwi and Rema 1000 near the campus.

Electric plugs

In Norway, there are the type-C and type-F plugs. Details here:  link

Hiking

Here we propose some less-known outdoor options in the Stavanger area. Dependeing on the weather, we may organize some of the hikes below on Saturday or Sunday. If you are interested in hiking, please bring with you proper equipment (hiking shoes, warm and waterproof clothes, hat, gloves, headlamp). There might be snow and ice in the mountains and the days are short, so it may happen that we will need to finish the hike by dark.

In general, suggestions for hikes can be found at Norwegian portal ut.no. Schedules of the public transport (trains, buses, boats) can be found at kolumbus.no. Some of the participants may have a 7-day 1-zone ticket (322 NOK) for commuting between Stavanger city center and workshop venue, this ticket is sufficient for the trips below unless stated otherwise. In case you don't have a 7-day ticket, it is also possible to buy a 24-hour ticket for public transport (125 NOK).
