Description
This paper presents a parametric optimization approach applied to a plastic shredder rotor blade carriage. Initially, the model is parameterized in SolidWorks and then imported into Ansys Design Explorer to analyze parameter sensitivities. Based on this analysis, five critical parameters are selected, with objectives to minimize total deformation, maximize strength, and ensure safety. The process uses five inputs and three outputs; Design Explorer generates both local and global sensitivity analyses, response surfaces, and tradeoff charts. With predefined upper and lower bounds, 27 design points are created, from which three promising candidates emerge. Ultimately, one optimal design point is chosen and used to remodel the final component in SolidWorks, demonstrating the effectiveness of parametric optimization in enhancing component performance.
